Zinc Hypophosphite, Zn(H₂PO₂)₂

Zinc Hypophosphite can be prepared by dissolving distilled zinc in hypophosphorus acid. When a moderately concentrated solution of the salt evaporates spontaneously, very efflorescent octahedra usually crystallise. These crystals belong to the tetragonal system, and have the composition Zn(H₂PO₂)₂.6H₂O.

The salt also crystallises in small rhombohedra that are stable in air.

Zinc hypophosphite phenylhydrazine, Zn(H₂PO₂)₂.2N₂H₃.C₆H₅, has been prepared.
